Natalya Dvorson

Natalya Dvorson joined Edell, Shapiro & Finnan in 2019, and has been practicing intellectual property law since 2003. With a degree in computer science and related practical work experience, Natalya focuses her practice on cutting-edge technologies including AI innovations, networking, business methods, autonomous driving systems, power management, and sustainability.  Natalya’s practice involves patent prosecution including developing global patent portfolios client counseling, freedom-to-operate, invalidity, and infringement opinions, licensing, technology transfers, and related matters.  Natalya serves on the firm’s diversity committee and enjoys mentoring law students and junior associates.

Prior to joining Edell, Shapiro & Finnan, Natalya practiced patent law for over 15 years, by first law clerking for Sughrue, Mion PLLC and then continuing as a full-time patent attorney.  In 2010, she became a partner of Sughrue and remained with the firm in that capacity until joining ESF in 2019.

Natalya also co-authored a number of publications including “Through the Looking Glass: Exploring the Wonderland of Patent Subject Matter,” Landslide, Vol. 7, No. 2, November 2014, “Lost in transition: preventing loss of an early effective filing date,” Intellectual Property magazine, November 2013, and “Stay Alert on Road to Lower Patent Costs,” Legal Times IP section, April 2009.

Prior to pursuing her legal career, Natalya worked for Hughes Network Systems developing software with Visual Basic, ‎C, C++, SQL, Pascal, Perl, and Smalltalk with limited exposure to Verilog. ‎

Natalya is fluent in Russian language. In her spare time, Natalya enjoys watching youth hockey and reading tech news.
