Kyle J. Martin has been involved in the intellectual property field since 2024, joining the firm in 2026. With a background in civil and structural engineering and related practical industry experience, Kyle focuses his practice on patent preparation and prosecution, prior art analysis, and patent lifecycle management.
Kyle specializes in a wide variety of mechanical and industrial technologies, including:
- mechanical arts and complex machinery
- medical devices and biomedical innovations
- agricultural equipment and automated farming systems
- industrial infrastructure and structural frameworks
- smart home technologies and IoT integration
Prior to joining Edell, Shapiro & Finnan, Kyle practiced patent law as an Associate for a boutique intellectual property firm, where he was extensively involved in domestic and international patent preparation and prosecution, prior art searching, and USPTO regulatory practice.
Before embarking on a career in intellectual property, Kyle gained several years of practical experience in the engineering sector as a structural designer. During his engineering career, Kyle was involved in the system design and infrastructure development for large-scale industrial facilities, including oil refineries, commercial breweries, and utility electrical substations.
In his free time, Kyle enjoys spending time with his family, actively farming, outdoor grilling, and following collegiate and NFL football.
