Josh Puvak joined Edell, Shapiro & Finnan in 2011, has been a Member of the firm since 2015, and has been practicing intellectual property law since 2005. With a degree in electrical engineering and related practical work experience, Josh focuses his practice on the strategic development and enforcement of intellectual property portfolios including patent application drafting and prosecution, due diligence, licensing, counseling, freedom-to-operate, invalidity, and infringement analysis and opinions, and related matters.  Josh has experience protecting intellectual property for large corporations, universities, and start-up ventures. As head of the firm’s docketing department, Josh works closely with the firm’s Docketing Director to manage docketing procedures and best practices.

Prior to joining Edell, Shapiro & Finnan, Josh practiced for over 6 years, initially at a patent boutique firm, and then at two international law firms where he was involved in patent prosecution and litigation, invalidity and non-infringement opinion writing, licensing, and reissue, reexamination, and interference proceedings. Josh was also previously employed as an assistant planning engineer for a major power provider.

In his free time, Josh enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
