William (Bill) Grigos joined Edell, Shapiro & Finnan in 2019, and has been involved in the intellectual property field since 20011. With a degree in mechanical engineering, Bill focuses his practice on patent portfolio development, portfolio management, counseling, freedom-to-operate, invalidity, and infringement analysis and opinions, and related matters.
Bill specializes in a wide variety of technologies, including:
- mechanical devices
- welding and plasma cutting systems
- medical devices
- semiconductor fabrication
- wireless and network communications
Bill began his career in intellectual property at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office working as a Patent Examiner. As a Patent Examiner, he examined applications related to energy generation and alternative energy technology, as well as control systems for regulating energy generation devices. Prior to joining Edell, Shapiro & Finnan, Bill worked as an associate at boutique IP law firms in the D.C. metro area, where he gained experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications in various technological disciplines in the telecom, mechanical, and medical device arts.
In his free time, Bill enjoys spending time with his family, playing ice hockey, reading, and traveling.
