Geoff Trotter joined Edell, Shapiro & Finnan in 2013 as a patent agent, and has been in the intellectual property industry since 2005. With degrees in applied physics, Geoff focuses his practice on patent drafting and prosecution, with additional experience in patent searching and freedom to operate studies.
Geoff specializes in a wide variety of technologies, including:

Prior to joining Edell, Shapiro & Finnan, Geoff worked as a patent searcher for two search firms, specializing in patentability, validity, and freedom to operate searches. Geoff also assisted in patent prosecution projects for various clients.
Before embarking on a career in intellectual property, Geoff studied experimental condensed matter physics at The George Washington University. While working as a research assistant at the Naval Research Laboratory, Geoff gained practical experience with cryogenic systems, materials science, superconductivity, and magnetic materials.
In his free time, Geoff enjoys spending time with family, reading, gaming, and playing volleyball.
