David Crosland is a partner at ESF, and has been with the firm since 2011.  With a degree in mechanical engineering and related work experience, David focuses his practice on developing and implementing domestic and foreign patent prosecution strategies and portfolio management, conducting freedom-to-operate analyses of product designs, preparing invalidity and non-infringement opinions, performing IP due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, and negotiating and drafting IP agreements and licenses.  David serves on the firm’s diversity committee.

Prior to joining the firm, David worked in-house for a startup energy company, and as a patent attorney for a firm in Virginia. While in law school, David worked in-house for two large national consumer product companies and as a student associate at an intellectual property boutique firm in Washington, D.C.

In his free time, David enjoys spending time with his family, skiing, cycling, hiking, and traveling
