Christopher Ruprecht has been working in the intellectual property field since 2012, and joined Edell, Shapiro & Finnan in 2022.  Holding a degree in Electrical Engineering and related practical work experience, Chris’s practice areas include patent portfolio development, portfolio management, counseling, freedom-to-operate, invalidity, infringement analysis and opinions, due diligence, and related matters.  Chris focuses his practice on the strategic preparation and prosecution of patent applications, and he has successfully obtained patent protection both domestically and abroad for large corporations and mid-size companies as well as smaller start-up ventures and individuals.

Chris began his career in intellectual property working at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a Patent Examiner in the fields of computer networks and security, among others.  Chris subsequently entered private legal practice and joined a large IP boutique in 2017, where he was involved in patent prosecution and client counseling, followed by a smaller IP boutique in 2020, where he gained further experience working with inventors and in-house counsel to draft and file new patent applications both domestically and abroad.  Chris also worked in the IP group of a large general practice firm prior to joining ESF.  Before embarking on his career in patent law, Chris was a technical assistant in the energy management and electrical distribution department of a power plant at his undergraduate university.

In his spare time, Chris enjoys playing music, golfing, cycling, snowboarding, cooking, and traveling.
